Research Focus Groups These focused groups in BMERC is generally formed from the preliminary or exploratory stages of a interested field to evaluate or develop a particular programme of research activities as well as assess its impact or to generate avenues beyond. They exist in hope to explore or generate hypotheses to development of concepts and eventually desired outcomes within the scope of the explored areas. The focus group creates the opportunity for independent researchers to be involved in decision making processes, to be valued as experts and given the chance to work collaboratively with other like-minded researchers. There are 15 focus groups in BMERC that is currently contributing positively to the advancement of their respective fields. Each of these groups is spearheaded by an academic staff and supported by their respective research staffs and students.
